Frequently asked questions
How do I remove the location from a photo?
Drop the photo in and press Clean. The GPS coordinates, altitude and any place names are removed along with the rest of the EXIF data, and the picture itself is untouched.
Does removing EXIF data reduce quality?
No. Images are not re-compressed — only the metadata around the pixels is rewritten — and videos are remuxed with their original audio and video streams copied bit for bit.
Can I remove metadata from an iPhone video?
Yes. MOV and MP4 clips lose their GPS position, device model, creation date and the location track an iPhone records alongside the video, while the image and sound stay exactly as they were.
Will my photo still be rotated correctly?
Yes. The orientation flag and the colour profile are kept on purpose: neither identifies you, and removing them would turn portrait photos sideways or wash out their colours.
Does it work on HEIC photos?
Yes — HEIC, JPG, PNG, WebP and GIF for photos; MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM and AVI for video.
