Frequently asked questions

How do I extract a single frame from a video?

Load the video, step to the exact frame with the arrow keys (one frame at a time), and press Capture or C. The still is taken at the video's full resolution, with no player UI.

Can I extract multiple frames at once?

Yes. Auto takes one frame every N seconds, or N frames spread evenly, over the whole video or just the part you select. Best frames keeps the sharpest frame of each shot and drops the duplicates.

What format are the extracted frames?

JPG (with a quality setting), lossless PNG or WebP, always at the video's original resolution. Each file is named after its timestamp.

Is my video uploaded for a manual capture?

No — manual captures are taken in your browser. Only Auto and Best frames read the video on our servers.

Is the Frame Extractor free?
