About Image Cropper
The free Image Cropper cuts a picture down to the part you actually want, or to the exact shape a placement demands. Drag the box, or lock it to a square, a 4:5 portrait, a 9:16 story or a 16:9 landscape. The crop is performed on your original file, so a 6000-pixel photo comes back as a 6000-pixel crop — the preview on screen is only how you aim, never what you get.
How it works
-
1
Upload an image
Drop in a JPG, PNG, WebP or HEIC — straight off a phone is fine.
-
2

Move and resize it freely, or lock it to a square, portrait, story or landscape shape first.
-
3
Download the crop
Get the cropped image at full resolution, in the same format or as JPG, PNG or WebP.
Frequently asked questions
Does cropping reduce the quality of my image?
No. The crop is performed on the original file, not on the preview you see on screen, and there is no re-encoding step in between. JPG and WebP are written at quality 92; PNG is lossless.
How do I crop an image to a square or to 9:16?
Pick the shape before you drag — square, 4:5 portrait, 9:16 story, 16:9 landscape or a link-card 1.91:1 — and the box stays locked to it while you move it.
Can I crop a photo from my iPhone?
Yes. HEIC and HEIF are read directly, and the crop comes back as a JPG so it opens anywhere.
Can I rotate the image as well as crop it?
Yes — rotate in quarter turns before you draw the box, and the rotation is applied to the original along with the crop.
Is the Image Cropper free?
Yes — cropping is completely free and requires no account.
